This hand-painted vintage figurine from Hollohaza, Hungary features a man in traditional Matyó embroidery folk costume.

Matyó embroidery is a densely-patterned style of free-hand work in rich and colorful floral motifs.
1777 Hollohaza Hungary Hand Painted and the number 36 are marked at the bottom of the figurine.
Hollohazi porcelain is one of the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe and it is the oldest in Hungary, dating back to 1777 as glassworks.
In 1857 it was turned into a real manufacturing facility but still produced folk style decorated porcelain.
Demand has been constantly growing for Hollohazi porcelain’s newly designed and traditional ornaments and table wares.

Good condition, except for the chip at the hat, as shown in the last picture.
